3 ingredient recipes

“My fridge is empty. I have absolutely nothing to eat!” How many times did you think it? Well, this gonna change because I will show you how to cook with a few ingredients.

Another food blog you’re thinking? Not exactly. It’s a library of 3 ingredient recipes that I have been searching all over the web and testing.

That’s the idea: cooking with what’s in your kitchen and avoid extra food shopping.

Even if the supermarket was 200 meters away, going there meant that my 2 months old baby had to eat, yes because he always had to eat when we were about to go out, obviously; then I’d have to change him, then when I thought he was ready… [blurp!]. So I had to clean him and wait some more time to make sure he wouldn’t regurgitate anymore. Then he would. Obviously. Then I would remember I couldn’t go out in pyjamas even at the supermarket (I almost went with my slippers once…) so I had to put some clothes on. Next I had to put on the baby wrap (that 5 meters of fabric not-so-easy to use in the right way). So a 5 minutes shopping became a “one-hour-and-a-half-to-get-ready” shopping. That’s precisely why I started to avoid food shopping.

Anyway, I’m no chef but I do love cooking when it’s challenging (= easy AND original… or originally easy).

Let’s start!

3 ingredients. That’s the main idea. 3 main ingredients or less. I decided to make it a rule, but, as it should make our lives easier, an easy rule.

They are some basic ingredients (like salt, sugar, flour,…) that I try to always have at home and that, I think, most people also always have. I’m thinking about long-lasting ingredients and basics although we don’t all have the same basics.

So here is my list of basic ingredients that could appear in the recipes but won’t count:

  • salt
  • pepper
  • sugar
  • flour
  • vinegar
  • evo oil (extra-vergin olive oil)
  • broth (in cube, granular or powder)
  • pasta
  • rice
  • honey
  • mustard
  • a few herbs and spices

I’m still undecided if I should add a few more that I always have (or at least try to):

  • onions
  • garlic
  • potatoes
  • tuna cans
  • tomato sauce
  • mayonnaise
  • butter

They also last quite a while. What do you think? What are your basic ingredients?
